The ladies-only Mercato Mall branch offers a bespoke menu of popular hair and beauty treatments, as well as housing a large retail section, which comprises the best hair products and tools in the industry, which are sourced globally.
Our team are highly skilled in their area of expertise and have trained in well known salons around the world. Nicky Clarke, Toni & Guy, Vidal Sassoon, Daniel Galvin, Mahogany, Loreal Technical Centre along with Dermalogica’s International Dermal Institute to name a few. We invest heavily in ongoing training so you can be assured that our team are extremely knowledgeable on the latest styles and techniques.
Meet The Team
After living in India and Pakistan, Fay settled in Dubai and has worked at Pastels for one year. With a background of sixteen years in the beauty industry Fay has developed many skills, and particularly enjoys waxing and eyelash extensions. Making her clients feel beautiful is the top priority for Fay, and she loves to see everyone leave the salon looking happy and confident.
Originally from the Philippines, Len has enjoyed working in the beauty industry for over fifteen years and recently joined Pastels in 2016. Len felt proud to be recognised as employee of the month, and hopes to continue developing her skills and working as part of the Pastels team. Len is particularly passionate about nail extensions, and she loves the chance to make her clients feel beautiful and glamorous with gorgeous nails.
Winner of South Africa’s Hair Stylist of the Year 2001, Natalie Anne worked as a salon manager for more than 20 years before relocating to Dubai. During this time, she completed a wide range of training courses, including sessions with Schwarzkopf for colour and cutting to ensure she kept up-to-date with the latest trends in the hair industry. Her expertise includes highlights, cuts, updos and creative colour.
Manager / Senior Stylist
Hailing from Cape Town, Shakira has worked in the hair industry for more than 20 years, joining the Pastels Salon team in 2005. After qualifying in her native South Africa, Shakira has completed extensive training with Wella, L’Oreal, Paul Mitchell and Redken, as well as retail training with industry guru Gary Rom.
Shakira has been recognised for her hair prowess having been named as a Kerastase Ambassador Middle East and having been invited to participate in the Redken Symposium in Las Vegas in 2012.The talented stylist loves to transform hair to the best it can be by using different colour tones, adding length using extensions or removing their Frizz with KeraStraight. She says, “What I love about the hair industry is that you are not merely a hairdresser but also psychologist – you don’t only make your client look good but you contribute in making her feel amazing emotionally as well.”
Shakira is the only stylist in the UAE to have achieved 100% in the KeraStraight exam, making her a bona fide expert!
Originally from the Philippines, Maria has worked in the hair industry for more than 20 years, joining Pastels in 2008. At the salon, she has become one of the most popular junior stylists and particularly enjoys cutting and colouring.
South African Tanya has been in the hair industry for the past 15 years and has completed training with industry giants such as Wella, Schwarzkopf, Redken and Paul Mitchell to name but a few. Her great achievement was travelling to Malta as part of a Redken team and she also loves participating in shows such as Fashion Forward where she gets to work with the entire Pastels’ team. She views every day as a new challenge and gets immense satisfaction when a client leaves her chair happy!
Hailing from Sydney, Emma has worked in the hair industry since 2006, when she started out as an apprentice. Since then she has completed training with Schwartzkopf and Toni&Guy, as well as at Vidal Sassoon in London. She has entered numerous competitions, and was awarded first place in a Photoflash competition in her native Australia. She loves being creative and making people feel good about their hair, and ultimately themselves.
A native of India, Tara joined Pastels in 2010. She has been expertly trained on haircare products and is able to advise clients on the best products for their hair. Her favourite aspect of her job is doing blowdries.
A native of the Philippines, Mila has received training in both hair and nails. Having joined Pastels in 2011, her favourite part of the job is doing consultations with clients and alleviating their haircare woes.
Junior Stylist/ Waxing
An expert in retail products, Nancyka can advise clients on the best products to suit their hair. She has been with Pastels since 2014 and loves doing blowdries.
Originally based at Pastels Jumeirah, Tess has been a member of the Pastels ‘ team since 2011. She is trained in colouring and blowdries and loves making her clients happy.
Jeannie has been part of the Pastels’ team since 2014. She has had training in several areas of hair by industry heavyweights such as Kerastase, L’Oreal and Redken. She particularly enjoys styling hair for special occasions.
Luche joined Pastels Salon in 2013 and is an expert at all nail treatments, including Shellac, BioSculpture Gel and Minx.
Fatima has been at Pastels Salon since 2015 and offers a range of hair and beauty treatments including threading, Essie Gel, Minx and BioSculpture but she most enjoys doing nail art.
Dawa has been with Pastels since late 2015 and is one of the salon’s resident nails and waxing experts. Since her arrival, she has become a firm favourite with clients for her perfect pedis!
Cynthia, Pastels Salon Mercato’s wonderfully warm receptionist is originally from Nairobi in Kenya. As well as having trained in computers and salon booking systems, Cynthia is also a qualified hair stylist. She loves her work and in particular getting the chance to interact with so many interesting people on a daily basis. “Moving to Dubai has offered me great opportunities and has opened many doors,” she says.
Lezl has worked in the hair and beauty industry for the past nine years and joined Pastels in 2013. She loves working as a receptionist in a busy salon as it gives her the chance to meet such interesting people and see clients emerge full of happiness after their hair and/or beauty treatment.
